How much does SEO cost for a tradie?

Expect somewhere from $1,500 to $3,500 a month, going by what Australian agencies publish for small businesses, and often less for a sole trader in one area. Your own figure comes down to your trade, how many suburbs you want to cover and how much your site needs doing.

Four things that change your quote

Your trade

Roofing and air con are fought over harder than fencing, and the work it takes follows that.

How far you travel

One area around your base takes less work than crews across a whole city.

The state of your site

A site with no job pages and no photos needs building out before anything else moves.

Ads on top

Google Ads management and click spend sit on top of ongoing SEO, and clicks in some trades are dear.

Cost questions, answered

How much does SEO cost for a tradie in Australia?

Going by figures Australian agencies publish, small businesses generally pay $1,500 to $3,500 a month for ongoing SEO. A sole trader working one area usually needs less than that, and a business with crews across a city more. Your own figure depends on your trade, how many areas you cover and the state of your site.

Is it cheaper than hipages?

It's a different cost. On a marketplace you pay for each lead, and other tradies are quoting on the same job. SEO costs more up front and takes months, but the jobs it brings ring you directly and aren't shared. Most tradies run both for a while and shift the balance as their own search presence grows.

Are cheap SEO packages worth it?

Look at what's in them. A very cheap package for tradies almost always means generated suburb pages, which is the thing most likely to hold your site back. You may end up paying someone to remove them.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. We don't use lock-ins. If it isn't paying its way, you can stop.
